Held quarterly to discuss and review the most important and relevant evidence-based articles and studies in our specialty.
Morbidity and Mortality
Held once a month and designed to discuss any surgical cases over the past month that merit educational discussion. Specific complications or suboptimal outcomes are presented, and cases are analyzed to identify opportunities for patient care and process improvement.
Radiology Case Presentation
Held once a month and designed to provide the resident with expertise in various imaging modalities and radiographic anatomy pertinent to head and neck pathology.
Otolaryngology Core Curriculum Conference
Held weekly. Consists of topic presentations by the Otolaryngology faculty, guest lecturers, and faculty from other departments (Plastic Surgery, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Neuroradiology, Pathology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Audiology, Speech and Language Pathology, etc). Lecture will be given in a didactic format with time allotted for questions. Core curriculum will repeat itself every two years.
Multidisciplinary Head & Neck Tumor Board Conference
Held weekly. Conference consists of new oncology patient presentations, as well as existing patients with ongoing diagnostic and treatment needs. Designed to provide evidence-based treatment recommendations from a multidisciplinary group consisting of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Pathology, Neuroradiology, Speech and Language Pathology, Nutrition Services, and Social Work.
Mock Oral Board Examination
Held once a year. Designed to simulate an actual Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery oral board examination.
Quality Improvement Conference
Designed for the resident to learn about ways to improve patient care and safety. Each resident will identify a potential or existing problem, or pitfall in patient care, perform a review of the existing literature, design a plan for improvement, and finally present the outcome result.
