Background
Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and the University of Kentucky are the only two programs in the U.S. to offer a novel program approved by the ACGME and ABIM allowing interested and capable trainees to complete Internal Medicine and Nephrology training in 4 years. The program allows 1 trainee per program per year to complete this training through the Advancing Innovation in Residency Program (AIRE) of the ACGME.
Candidates apply to the Cooper Internal Medicine Residency Program via the usual MyERAS program, indicating the specific AIRE track on the application.
