Background
Cooper Medical School of Rowan University and the University of Kentucky are the only two programs in the U.S. to offer a novel program approved by the ACGME and ABIM allowing interested and capable trainees to complete Internal Medicine and Nephrology training in 4 years. The program allows 1 trainee per program per year to complete this training through the Advancing Innovation in Residency Program (AIRE) of the ACGME.
