Coach Training Program for GME Program Directors and Associate/Assistant Program Directors
Strengthen professionalism, interpersonal and communication skills, and overall professional development for trainees.
Cooper University Health Care offers a physician-specific Coach Training Program designed to support leaders in Graduate Medical Education (GME).
This course equips program directors and associate/assistant program directors with coaching skills that enhance the professional development of trainees. This coaching program is specifically designed for faculty to coach trainees.
Coaching within Graduate Medical Education (GME) is designed to strengthen Professionalism (PROF), Interpersonal and Communication Skills (ICS), and overall professional development for trainees.
Coaches guide trainees in:
- Building professional identity.
- Strengthening communication skills.
- Developing resilience.
- Setting individualized goals.
- 30-hour hybrid curriculum (asynchronous + in-person sessions).
- Tailored for physicians working in GME leadership roles.
- Opportunity to become a board-certified coach (BCC) through the Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE).
- Faculty will coach two trainees prior to being eligible for the certification examination
- Supports a culture of growth, reflection, and resilience in medical education.
- Provides non-evaluative tools to guide trainees through complex transitions.
- Enhances leadership effectiveness by fostering deeper listening, inquiry, and goal-setting for the trainees.
