Catherine E. Loveland-Jones, MD, MS, FACS
Head, Division of Breast Surgery
As part of this elite network, our program follows nationally recognized treatment protocols and leverages MD Anderson’s clinical and research resources to provide the highest standard of care. Our breast surgeons are skilled in the most advanced surgical techniques and deliver exceptional outcomes for patients with both early-stage and complex breast cancer. Through this immersive, multidisciplinary experience, trainees are prepared to become leaders in breast surgery, grounded in both clinical excellence and academic rigor.
Our research enterprise is driven by a commitment to scientific discovery that informs clinical practice and transforms patient outcomes. Leveraging our affiliation with MD Anderson, trainees and faculty participate in a wide portfolio of clinical trials and collaborative research initiatives. In partnership with the Coriell Institute, we support genomic and epigenetic studies that advance breast cancer treatment. The center plays a vital role in connecting basic science with clinical care, creating a dynamic environment where laboratory discoveries are rapidly translated into new treatment strategies and improved outcomes for patients. This bench-to-bedside approach not only enhances our understanding of breast cancer biology but also ensures that research remains directly relevant to patient needs.
Education and mentorship are central to our mission. Consistent with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University’s values, we are deeply committed to training the next generation of breast surgeons through a curriculum that combines academic excellence with community service, patient advocacy, and wellness. Our supportive and inclusive environment fosters professionalism, scholarly achievement, and personal growth. The integration of teaching and learning with meaningful service is a hallmark of the CMSRU experience, cultivating physicians who are not only technically and scientifically accomplished but also deeply committed to the communities they serve. Through mentorship, rigorous training, and a strong culture of humanism, our graduates are equipped to advance the field of breast surgery through research, innovation, and compassionate care.
